What is a Remortgage?
Remortgaging basically involves transferring the mortgage on your current property onto another lender, resulting in a new mortgage deal. Conveyancing services come part and parcel with the remortgaging process, as it drastically reduces the chances of miscommunication – Hillfort offers low and consistent conveyancing fees to streamline the process. Call us today if you’re thinking of getting a remortgage on your property.
How can I get a Remortgage?
If you have a valid existing mortgage on a property and you feel the need for a changeover due to a change of circumstances or simply the prospect of getting a better deal, you can apply for a replacement mortgage and we will deal with the legalities to ensure that the legal charge is removed from the title and replaced with your new lender’s charge. Please see our remortgaging conveyancing process below.

Remortgage Conveyancing FAQs
How long does remortgage conveyancing take?
We can process a remortgage in a week or two once we are in receipt of the mortgage offer and your signed documents. This projected timeframe gives us enough space to complete all necessary checks and calculations before we complete your transaction.
Do I need a conveyancer for remortgaging?
A legal professional may not be required if you are only borrowing more money on your mortgage from your existing lender. However, if transference to a new lender is the plan, then it is widely accepted that legal advice should be sought out for all conveyancing matters, including for remortgaging. Compared to somebody with less legal experience, a qualified lawyer can efficiently arrange all the legal checks in a fraction of the time. That does not mean that you have to accumulate disproportionate expenses for the service; aim for a firm that charges fair, fixed legal fees.
How much does remortgaging conveyancing cost?
Our fixed prices for remortgage conveyancing services vary depending on a number of factors, including the number of checks, the condition of your property and the type of remortgage deal you are planning to apply for. Get in touch with us today for a more accurate quote or simply fill out our quote calculator form on our website.
Is there a Transfer of Equity in the remortgaging process?
It depends. A Transfer of Equity may intertwine with remortgage conveyancing if a new lender is being added, as this constitutes a legal change of ownership. As with other conveyancing processes, a property lawyer can make amendments to all documentation, including title deeds, and ensure a full Transfer of Equity takes place.
What are the fees for remortgage conveyancing?
Our remortgage conveyancing service carries similar fees to our other home conveyancing packages. These include fees for identity confirmation, Anti-Money Laundering checks, bankruptcy reviews, property fraud checks, general searches and more. Any fees we charge will be fixed and transparent, with no hidden costs tucked away.
